Class Structure
Unlike the Maya or Aztecs, the Inca class structure only consisted of three levels.
Government
The Government had at the top the emperor or Sapa Inca and his immediate family. The emperor was always a male. Right below him was the Capac Incas, [the highest rank of nobles] considered relatives of the emperor. Capac Incas controlled the empire's land and valuable resources like gold. The middle rank of nobles was called the Hahua Incas and not of the emperor's blood. The lowest rank was the Curaca Incas. Curaca Incas ruled small groups of people throughout the empire.
Art
This jar is an example of the significant art the Incas made. Pieces of pottery like this are the most common pieces of Inca art.
Religion
This is a representation of the Sun god Inti . Their emperor was believed to be descended from this god.
Stable Food Supply
The Incas farmed using terraces. Crops would be planted on the flat ledges. This technique is used to make farming in the mountains practical.
Writing
Quipu
Quipus were strings with knots in different places and forms. This is what they used to write reminders since they didn't have a written language. They did have a verbal language called Quechua.

Technology
Suspension Bridge
The greatest feats of technology from the Incas were paths. They built bridges out of thick cables strung across gaps. Carved pathways spiraled down the sides of mountains.
